Question to Ask the Workplace Doctors about write up and privacy:
I found out that my manager shared my personal work file with another employee and that I was being wrote up for something I forgot to do. Several employees were told that I was going to be written up before I knew about it. Is there anything that I can do about it?

Dear Working For A Mouthy Manager:
Obviously that was an assignment or directive that you did not complete. The first thing that you should do is to be very careful with your work assignments, making sure that all are complete. Secondly, you may request a meeting with your manager to tell him/her what the other employees have told you concerning your being “written up.” Explain to the manager that you want to know if this is true or not. If the manager says “yes”, then ask why she/he would discuss your personal work file.
Then ask that this not be done in the future requesting that the manager come to you with any problem relating to your work performance. Always try to maintain an open communication with your co-workers and supervision. Thinking communication is the road to WEGO at work.
