Accused Unjustly By Supervisor

Question to Ask the Workplace Doctors about boss’s accusation:

Currently I’m being accused unjustly by my supervisor and have to bear responsibility for the damage I did not cause. Should I explain clearly to my supervisor? Or just straight away seek for help from higher position?

Signed, Not Guilty

Dear Not Guilty:

Yes, explain to your supervisor. Don’t bypass him/her. Learn why you are accused–for what, where, when and by whom. See this as an opportunity to strengthen your commitment to making your workplace safe and profitable. If the conversation permits, talk about ways of cutting waste: wasted supplies, wasted time, and wasted effort. If written up, you can write an explanation and refutation. Don’t see your supervisor as a policeman, an enemy or adversary. You want him/her to succeed. Working together with hands, head, and heart takes and makes big WEGOS. So think of ways to increase that kind of feeling.
